What About the 400?

For the past few months we have all been engrossed with the two "alien" Kodak slides that will be presented in Mexico City on the 5th of May.  Well supposedly copies, as the originals will not be presented for various reasons, but that is a story for another day.  Yet, despite the angst and celebratory emotions, what of the other 400 plus slides?

Those 400 slides are briefly mentioned but seemed forgotten, but I believe that they could hold the key to this enigma.  What are the images depicted? This could give us a pretty good range of time based on what images are actually depicted.  Do those slides show a time range from 1940 to 1960 based on content?  Do these photos give a possible clue as who was the actual photographer and when and where were they processed?  Were they processed in bulk or a few at a time?  A lot of questions that could be answered.

Based on a few of the slides that have been released, there is one that depicts Ike Eisenhower standing next to Milton Eisenhower on the back of a rail car.  Tim Printy put this photo at roughly 1945.  This one photo had caused a slight rush that it might have been Bernerd Ray standing next to Ike, but Printy's analysis sunk that inane theory by clearly identifying Milton Eisenhower. 

But that is one example of one photograph.  What of the others.  Yes, let Maussan et al show the two slides allegedly depicting aliens on May 5th, but the real answers may come from the heavy scrutiny of the 400 slides.

Ufology's Version of Wrestle-mania...A Re-cap

A little recap from the last few weeks verbal wrestle-mania concerning the "alien" Kodak slides.  These two photographic slides appear to be the consummate "self-licking ice cream cone."

Rich Reynolds posted a link to Jose Caravaca's site.  This is actually V 2.0; the original post was removed due to the hint of potential libel issues with Tony Bragalia making claims that Paul Kimball had possibly acquired copies of the two slides illegally.  Missed in all of the "noise" was Caravaca's article.

Paul Kimball announced that he had obtained full resolution copies of the two slides in question.  Paul plans to present his copies to the general public on May 4th.  This is what set off Tony Bragalia in Reynold's Caravaca 1.0 ultimately leading to Rich's removal of his original post.

Paul also provided information that his uncle, Stan Friedman, was invited to the May 5th unveiling down in Mexico City, but has declined to attend.  Friedman joins the ranks of ufologists, such as Robert Hastings, withholding support for Carey, Dew, and Schmitt.

Gilles Fernandez posted on his blog an excellent article regarding some of the work being put forward by the Roswell Slides Group.  This group is in the process of identifying what is actually portrayed in the two photos vs. that of an ET origin.

Link found tying Bernerd/Hilda Ray to the Aztec, NM UFO story?

Or, has the story simply gone underground?

Nick Redfern posted an interesting article detailing a possible link with the Rays and Silas Newton.  Most should be aware that the Aztec, NM UFO story is built on the foundation that back in 1948, a group of geologist had stumbled upon a secretive government clean-up operation involving a crashed UFO saucer.

Per Redfern, Rich Reynolds has come across possible documentation that ties Hilda Ray to Silas Newton concerning a legal case back in 1946.  Hilda Ray was a practicing attorney back then.  Reynolds was in the process of sorting out more detail and sourcing at this time, again as stated by Nick Redfern.

A recent update on Reynold's blog better explains the issue of the document and the lack of obtaining proper and second sourcing, thus the document will probably not be disclosed until the above happens. [This is the proper way and as it should be.]

Further, Nick Redfern alludes to the possibilities that Ray, being a geologist, was either recruited or invited by the government to discern if the dead "aliens" where of a possible subterranean origin.

An interesting theory, but it appears to be weakened by other factors pertaining to both the Aztec and Roswell stories.

The Roswell story is built on the foundation that a UFO/saucer had crashed and it's debris collected by the military, ergo it descended from space.

The Aztec UFO story is built on the foundation that a group of geologist had stumbled upon a government clean up operation of a crashed saucer, with dead aliens. This happening in 1948...supposedly.

The loose theory being proffered is that the government had retained(?) the services of Ray, Newton, et al, to determine if the aliens had originated as a subterranean-type of origin.

The two alleged incidents happening approximately 1 year apart. Why would the government be interested in subterranean origins when they would have had "tangible" proof via "saucer" debris which had been confiscated and secreted back to Wright-Patterson?

If we go by the prevailing premise that Bernerd Ray had opportunity and means of photoing dead "aliens" after either stumbling across the operation, or invited to render a professional opinion concerning species origin, there are absurdities with both versions.

1. The alien photos (Dew, Carey, Schmitt) show something in a glass display case/container which would mean no photos were taken at the scene of the alleged crash...Roswell and/or Aztec, thus hardly proving that Bernerd Ray had happened across a crash clean up site.

2. Ray was a geologist, not a biologist or forensic pathologist, so his input would have been professionally worthless as far as examining the dead aliens and establishing origin.

This story defies logic...regardless of any so-called government attempt to use Aztec as a cover for Roswell.

Not surprising is that the current interest in the "Roswell" Kodachrome slides and their alleged link to Bernard/Hilda Ray have also sparked an interest in the Aztec story.   One of the issues, as I see it, is the task of actually linking the slides to the Rays.  Right now, it appears to be a mere correlation without proof.

Ray's Summer of 1947 Vacation Slide Presentation

Something to break the thick ice of seriousness concerning the "Roswell" slides.  A
little jocularity to offset the accusations of hacked emails, veiled threats of calling the various law enforcement agencies [Canada and New Hampshire] and the wondering if there will be juggling clowns for entertainment in Mexico City on May 5, 2015.  [I shed tears as I cry out with a loud voice...Viva Mexico...or, Las Vegas.]

Since my last post dealt with the proposition that the "alien" slides were probably shown to a lot of people back in the day,  I wondered what such presentation would have been like in the Ray household back in the late 1940s or early 1950s.

Hilda: "Bernerd and I had quite a lovely time vacationing in the SouthWest. Here is Bernerd at the Grand Canyon... it was larger than I expected...I mean the canyon of course."

Bernerd: "Now Hilda..." 

Hilda: "Here is Bernerd at an old abandon pueblo, and Bernerd at an old Spanish Mission, and here he is standing next to Ike...Bernerd is that not Milton in the photo instead of you?, and here is Bernerd standing next to dead extraterrestrial aliens near this dreadful little town called Roswell...damn it Bernerd, that slide is a little blurry my dear."

Bernard: "Didn't have much time my love...those soldiers were yelling and had guns..."

Hilda: "Bernerd, that looks like a weather balloon near those little guys."

Bernerd: "Didn't have time to notice, this fellow, Dr. Gee said we had to get the hell out of there, right quick!"

Hilda: "Oh, he did seem like a friendly gentleman...and here is a photo of Bernerd playing golf with..."

Hilda:  "Oh dear me...Bernerd, we seem to be missing photos of drawings from that nice pilot up in Washington state...Kenneth Arnold, I believe...here they are...goodness gracious, those nine objects look like pelicans to me."

Bernerd:  "Arnold told me that they looked like flying saucers...like a saucer skipping in the water"

Hilda:  "Nonsense Bernerd, pelicans fly, the don't skip."

Hilda:  "Oh, and here is Bernerd at this air base in Ohio, standing next to a hanger..."


And a good time was had by all.  And for those who are dead serious about the slides...yes, I'm aware that my writing is very childish...

The "Roswell" Slides?...They were probably viewed ad nausea 60 years ago.

I remember back in the 1960s and 1970s, friends and relatives would occasionally invite you over to view slides that were taken from various vacation spots.  You went because it was the polite thing to do.  I hated it as I recall squirming for the full duration of the viewing. These were the dreaded slide shows that usually held nothing of interest for you, but you sat through it wasting time that you could never reclaim.

I bring this up because of the current focus on the "Roswell" slides.  The story of the slides coming into being is twisted and convoluted.  Supposedly taken by either Bernerd or Hilda Ray, yet that is not certain.  In fact nothing is certain concerning the two slides, not even what is depicted as the subject matter.

The two slides in question (alien, mummy, human deformity or whatever) were mounted in a slide format with the full intent to be shown. We may infer that at some given point in time that they were part of a slide presentation(s) and seen by others, otherwise why waste the time putting them in a slide format?

I suspect that these two slides were shown to quiet a few individuals back in the 1950s and 1960s. It may be a "fantastic" present day discovery for some, but I suspect that this was old news back in the day.

Is there any evidence that individuals in Midland, TX or Sedona, AZ were screaming about photographic proof of aliens, based on these slides back in the 1950s or 1960s?  I've not come across such a notion.

That the two slides were in an envelope separated from the others may have been to avoid having them shown with the rest of the slides so as not to offend certain sensibilities, thus being shown only under certain circumstances depending on the audience. 

In the 1950s, there was still a sense of decorum and the constitution of proper manners. Unlike today where anything goes especially if it has a certain degree of shock value.  The two photos, as the rest, are remnants of a long ago social culture, but rest assured they were seen.

Trending on the Skeptical Front...

Tim Printy has published his latest edition of SUNlite webzine.  It should come as no surprise that he dedicates a good portion of his content to the "Roswell" slides.  Tim provides a great read with a detailed telling of what is currently known about the slides.

On another front, via Rich Reynolds blog, UFO Conjecture(s), Rich writes that Paul Kimball and others have formed a Roswell slides research group to counter the Carey, Dew, Schmitt, and Maussan extravaganza [for lack of a better description] scheduled for this coming May 5th in Mexico City. I'm looking forward to seeing the eventual results of the group.

Astronomers Discover Odd-ball Galaxy

Interesting quote from one of the astronomers involved in the discovery:

"The dusty galaxy is just one of the recent surprises astronomers have found. "Last week," says Marrone, "we learned of an incredibly massive black hole in the early universe. Now we have this average galaxy with significant amounts of dust. We've had this cartoon picture of the early universe, but it's clear that we really don't know what's going on."

Our thoughts on the formation of the universe, both scientific and theological, are dynamic...ever changing as new things pop up to challenge the prevailing paradigms.
